Micro scale melt dimension
The planned projects in Project Area A are concerned with melt dimensions at the micro-scale, in which only a small partial area of the component is turned into a molten phase. Thus this project area focuses on a fast energy supply and the impact factors of quick solidification conditions through conduction of heat into the massive component and strong gradients in temperature and surface stresses. Both results in high driving forces in the molten phase as well as inner tensions after solidification.
